The sally UV lamp does it for around 30 seconds but you could always do it twice if you don't think 30 seconds is long enough

This light stays on for 45 seconds. The UV lights cure faster (10-15 seconds) while LED lights take approximately 30-45 seconds.

Of course, unless you're eating it! The FDA wouldn't otherwise "allow it." All nail products are "safe" if you mean are they toxic to your nails...Any nail product like acrylic nails or gel nails that don't allow your nails "to breathe" for an extended time period, will have some kind of effect on your nails. Nothing detrimental, although they will make your nails softer or weaker than without wearing the acrylics or gel nails.

If you always wear regular nail polish, you will notice that your nails are also weaker or softer after removing your polish. It won't kill your nails (they are, after all, already dead) but, over a long period of using any of the nail products, it will have an effect (temporary though) on your naked nails.

Yes, it's safe for human real nails. I personally wouldn't use it while pregnant, but that's just me...

I have found this to be far better for my nails than the artificial nails. My nails are healthier and look better and feel stronger even without the product on.

Are all products in the nail gel kits safe for human nails?

No. It will not help or do anything special. After doing a base coat with gel and curing under lamp I have tried regular polish. After polish is dried normally, you can do a top coat and cure. It doesn't last much longer than normal polish would. (Maybe an extra day or three tops.) However if you use a gel polish color you will find your nails lasting 2-3 weeks with out chipping or peeling. They feel like your own nails. They still flex like your own do. You can pick coins up and use your nails as you normally would with out the handicap of having thick acrylic. I have been using gels for almost a year on my nails and absolutely love them! I have not used this brand yet. I have used Gelish and Sensationails. The later one is sold through Walmart. My 7 year old has finally quit biting her nails just to have me do her nails too. We even put nail decals on them. (After the top coat, remove gel residue, stick on decal. and cover with Top coat cure and check to make sure it is smooth with no edges showing.) I am a Nail Tech, Permanent Make-up Artist, and Cosmetologist. I have friends with no pro experience at all who love to do their own nails and glitter toes with the gels. Good Luck!

I suppose you could, but I tried ordinary polish over the gel (to change the color) and the ordinary polish wore off within a couple of days whereas I get 2-3 weeks from the gel polish. You can buy gel at Sally Beauty Supply.

No, it will not dry your regular nail polish.

You can use regular nail polish, let it completely dry, then add a clear coat of gel polish to prolong your manicure and use the LED light to cure the clear. The regular nail polish must be COMPLETELY DRY first. If it's not, you will get tiny bubbles under the gel polish when it's cured.

I have always loved doing my nails. I remember filing nails and saving my allowance for new polish since I was about 9 years old. Now that I have 3 children, I'm really rough on my hands with all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. Regular nail polish takes too long to dry and quick dry polishes don't last long - maybe 1 day if I'm lucky. So I haven't painted my nails much in the last several years and I really missed it. I was looking for a product that was easy to use and has more staying power.

I read the good and bad reviews on here before buying the starter kit. I learned from one reviewer that rubbing alcohol and cotton are a good substitute for the nail cleanser pads so, after doing my nails, when they were still a little tacky, that was a great tip to finish cleaning them up! As for the negative reviews, I don't know where they are coming from and not sure what they did wrong in the application procedure but I haven't had any of those experiences.

I LOVE this product! I think the directions were very clear and easy to follow. My favorite aspect is the fact that the gel polish is dry and hard immediately. I scrubbed the bathrooms about 20 minutes after finishing my nails and there isn't a single dent, scuff, or chip!

I got "Shell We Dance" because it was the only color starter kit available at the Target where I was shopping. It doesn't match the box exactly but also wasn't invisible as some previous commenters have claimed. It's a pretty pink that goes with just about everything.

I also bought three other colors: "Hi Ho Silver," "High Society," and "Lady Luster." Now my only problem is having to wait to try out the colors because my first manicure still looks so great! (I'm on day 3 right now) Not actually a bad "problem" to have - haha.

Works great, super easy to apply. It's a little more time consuming than regular nail polish, but the best part is not having to wait for it to dry. The quality of the nail polish is great! I've had it on for a week already and it hasn't chipped at all. Definitely recommend :)

I never write reviews but these are better than salon gel nails. I will never get gel nails at the salon again. These pictures are after 3 days of wear and they're so durable. They feel smooth and like you want gel nails to feel. They are so easy to apply (takes me about 20 mins). I put 3 coats on instead of 2 like they suggest.

Sally Hansen Gel Starter Kit and polishes are awesome. If you price everything out, it is a great deal. I had some mishaps in the beginning but stuck with it and it works wonderfully! I have very soft nails that peel so I have broken a few but it lasts 10-14 days, no doubt. I double the curing time and triple on dark colors. Also, the parts about cleaning and buffing your nails are very important and if you get it on your cuticle,it will lift and peel. If done properly, this will be your new addiction!

Can't find additional colors or polish outside of the kit in the stores yet - wonder how long before there is something available to use the kit with - cleaning pads, polish, top coat, etc. You only need one light. The product works very well, and holds up where a normal manicure would be chipped or worn within hours or days.

Got this for Christmas as I was spending way to much at salons. And this works just like getting shellac done at the salon.

I prep my nails with filing and trimming the cuticals 
Top coat cure for 30 sec light coat of the color cure. Another coat of the color cure then top coat while icure for 60 sec 
And use the alcohol wipe to remove the tackyness .
